Crystals have been used for millennia as a means of focusing on different energies. They can be an aid during difficult times, gently working with the subconscious to protect, heal or comfort. Using crystals for grief has been something close to my heart of late.
This year (2019) has been a difficult one for me and my family. We lost our dear Dad to liver cancer on 10th April and less than three months later, my sister’s husband passed away from a brain tumour at 46 years old. He had only been diagnosed four weeks earlier. As you can imagine, this has been extremely tough to cope with and coming to terms with the loss has been (and still is) a slow process.
I will take time to write an article about grief and the grieving process in due course, but for now, I give you my top three crystals for grief that may help you if you are at any stage in this process yourself. They have been a great comfort and support to me.
Apache Tears

A type of obsidian, this stone is an excellent protector against negative energy and thought that others may project towards us. This stone is a great comfort during times of deep grief. Legend tells that these stones were created from the tears shed by women of the Apache tribe when almost all the warriors in the tribe were killed in a surprise attack. The women wept for the warriors and their tears were transformed into the stones by the Great Spirit. Holding an Apache Tear will allow grief and sadness to gently drain away.
Rose Quartz

The great heart healer, rose quartz gently fills the heart with love and releases grief from the heart and lungs. It allows in self-love and compassion. Depending on your loss, rose quartz can bring in the energy of forgiveness if this is necessary to move forward. Rose quartz helps us to let go of the negative feelings and allows in the happy memories of the person who you have lost. This is a very comforting stone to have in your collection.
Lepidolite

A stone of transition, lepidolite helps you through the process of moving forward with your life after the loss of a loved one. This in no way means that you will forget the person, it is just a way of transitioning to a life without them in it. Grief is a process Healing from it doesn’t happen overnight or even over a few weeks or months. It is an ongoing process that should never be rushed. Lepidolite supports you through the grieving process as it takes its many twists and turns. Loaded with lithium, lepidolite actively releases feelings of anxiety and worry that may be present whilst grieving.
How To Use Your Crystals
- Sit comfortably holding your crystals in your hand, close your eyes and think about the person you have lost. Set the intention of releasing the sadness and any other negative emotions that you are feeling. Let happy memories to come to you as you hold the crystals, allowing them to support you.
- Wear your crystals as jewellery or carry them in your pocket. As you move throughout your day, touch your crystals and remind yourself of their purpose, allowing yourself to let go of the sadness each time you touch them.
- Sleep with your crystals under your pillow. Before you go to sleep, set the intention that the crystals will assist you in releasing your grief as you sleep.
Crystals can be a great support during the grieving process, however, it is important to get professional help if you are finding things too difficult to cope with. A trained therapist can help you to work through things at your own pace. Complementary therapies such as ThetaHealing and Reiki can be extremely beneficial as they guide you through the release of grief gently and effectively from your physical, emotional and spiritual bodies.
Having been through this process myself so recently and having taken time to myself to process my own grief, I am now ready to help you too. Please get in touch if you feel you are drawn to release your grief with my help.
Much love and light
