The moon’s energy ebbs and flows with each phase of its cycle around the Earth. We can use it to our advantage if we know how. In ancient times, people followed and revered the moon far more than we do today. We would sow seeds and harvest crops according to the different cycles of the moon. The new moon was a time to sow and the full moon was when to harvest. Sir Isaac Newton established the laws of gravity proving that the gravitational pull of the moon affects the tides and any body of water. The full moon brings high tides, big waves and high energy.
As organic “bodies of water”, we are made up of around 80% water, so it’s no surprise that we are affected by the moon just like the oceans are. If a full moon can cause high tides, then imagine what is going on inside us when the moon is full. The most common thing that we may notice is that we have more energy around the time of the full moon and because of this excess of energy, we may have more difficulty in sleeping, find it harder to focus and concentrate. For some, the full moon can be draining if they do not know how to harness its energy to their advantage.
The new moon, on the other hand, can be a more quiet, restful time of contemplation and reflection.
How To Use The Energy Of The Moon To Our Advantage
The moon has many phases but there are four main phases that we can use to our advantage if we know how:
New moon
When the moon is almost invisible in the sky. This is when the pull is at its lowest. Begin new projects, meditate, rest, relax, contemplate and sow new seeds and thoughts ready for them to grow into big ideas.
Waxing moon
This is the time when the moon is growing and gaining in energy. It is the perfect time to manifest for something that you want in your life. Meditate and visualise it coming into your life and believe.
Full moon
When the moon is full in the sky and at its highest energy it is a wonderful time to recharge your energy and bring your manifestations and projects to fruition. Contrary to popular believe, it is not the best time to meditate. It is harder to get into that deep state of relaxation during a full moon so use its power to think about the things you are grateful for instead and do a good deed for someone. Use the energy wisely. Whatever you think will be amplified so think love, happiness and gratitude instead of anger, fear or resentment. The full moon also energises and recharges crystals, so put them out overnight in the moonlight if you can.
Waning moon
As the energy of the full moon wanes, so does our energy levels. Use this time to clear out the debris from your mind. Let go of resentments, negative influences and things that no longer serve you. Plan for any new projects but do not begin them until the new moon comes.
So, if you are feeling a bit out of kilter with your energy, stop and check which phase the moon is in. It can sometimes help to account for any weird feelings of fatigue, an excess of energy or a difficulty in focusing. Once you learn to align yourself with the moon’s gravitational pull, you will begin to feel more in balance and it will help you to focus on what you need to at the right times.
